hi BlueSky!
I make podcasts that adapt + excavate the films of Karyn Kusama:

"An Invitation to THE INVITATION" podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a...

"An Invitation to DESTROYER" podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a...

Writer of both films, Phil Hay, graciously called the former a "beautiful work of art"

Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

Threw on the new Criterion of NIGHTMARE ALLEY 2021 and forgot that the reappearance of Richard Jenkins and Mary Steenburgen makes this the Catalina Wine Mixer of Guillermo Del Toro's oeuvre.

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

Saw THE WAY OF WATER re-release today. Magnificent as always. The new FIRE AND ASH trailer *and* preview scene were both just.. gobsmacking.

Crazy how TWOW has the most inventive and satisfying action that I’ve ever seen, and yet, FAA is so clearly going to eat its lunch.

Finally saw my favorite movie on the big screen and got to hug the 3 brilliant artists below that I've known virtually since
2020.

An incredible punctuation mark to a creative journey that started in Fall 2019.

Thank you, Beyond Fest.
Thank you Karyn Kusama, Phil Hay, and Matt Manfredi.

Black people actually did call all of this, so did Indigenous people. White people just thought we were exaggerating because you were fine with the violence toward communities that you thought wouldn't include you. But the thru line from eugenics, bleach, and Ivermectin to here was incredibly clear

This. This administration is even worse than any of us thought possible. Who had destroy NIH, CDC, USAID, EPA, scientific research all at the same time on their bingo card?

My thesis is that no matter how doomer you were in Nov. 2024, we're probably past your worst-case scenario for the first 9 months of this administration.

It's very strange for me to realize I wasn't pessimistic enough.

It’s been 5 years this month since I published my first podcast, “An Invitation to THE INVITATION”! Coincidentally, the film is playing at #BeyondFest for its 10th anniversary this Wednesday. See you there and thanks for listening!

The civilians in Gaza are under siege and starving. Their only means to survive is via our direct donations.

If you can, please give to my dear friend Tasneem at the link so she can feed her children and raise funds to escape. And give to others. ❤️🙏

This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...
