U.S. District Judge April Perry says it comes down to a "credibility determination."

"I simply cannot credit [the Trump administration's] declarations to the extent they contradict state and local law enforcement. … DHS' perception of events are simply unreliable."

#BREAKING A federal judge say she will grant "in part" a request by the state of Illinois for a temporary restraining order against the deployment of National Guard troops into the state.

U.S. District Judge April Perry is still ruling and has not outlined the details of her order.

I wrote legal editorials for the Post for a hot minute many years ago, and I was constantly anxious about making sure I got the details right. This editorial is just humiliating for everyone involved

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Chris Hayes: New reporting from the Wall Street Journal tonight, that message that Trump posted to Pam Bondi online was meant to be basically a DM that he accidentally posted publicly... Pam was surprised to learn it was public. Bondi, upset, called the White House aides.

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.

Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

Interestingly, he hadn't provided any support to farmers when the government wasn't shut down.

This seems like a waste of time/resources -- trying to predict 2026 elections when we haven't had the 2025 elections, are in the middle of a government shutdown, and the Trump admin is sending/trying to send troops into Chicago, Portland, other Blue cities. Why do we care about midterm polling now?

Surprised CPR doesn't try to draw readers with occasional analysis that lives outside pay wall. Not pretending to understand CPR bus model/rev needs, but feel like other sites offer more free content as enticement to pay for more content. E.g. a free piece on sdown for paid piece on redistricting.

This Administration's own guidance and Speaker Johnson's website both state, correctly, that federal workers will receive retroactive pay "as required by law."

The Trump Administration is just trying to frighten people as a tactic to avoid negotiating in good faith. Despicable.

Like I’ve always said, ACA health plans are a lifeline in rural areas. This map shows how 3/4 of people on the plans live in states Trump won.

Oops. Another broken promise to keep costs down?
