Oooh I'm at 118, 012 word count and I've not even started the final part. That seems excessive and I'm being ruthless with the prose 😭

I think about this statement from Liz Shipton often

I worry about this misconception. I'm writing neo-noir. People say and do terrible, horrible things but that's because they're the bad people. You're supposed to find them abhorrent.
It boggle my mind how some people think the author approves of every word that comes out of their characters' mouths.

Y'all, villains say villainous things. Making sure they have good arguments is just quality characterization, not me trying to convince you they're right. #booksky #amwriting

The eternal struggle
Scrolling youtube for writing advice knowing damn well I already know how to write the subject I'm watching and passing it off as 'research'

Todays check of the first draft to refresh my memory has yielded 4 continuity errors and a character I don't remember writing. Good to know where I'm at

Yeah I'm new and it looks like I'm fake but I swear I'm not. Yes I'm aware that's what a fake would say but I've got profiles elsewhere a bit more full up than this

New scam, folks. Be aware. Got an email from a writer akin to real ones I've gotten in the past -- hey, I like your books, I'm a writer too, looking to make connections, etc. Nothing sus. First red flag: ending with "I'd love to stay connected. Do you have a link to your latest book or author page?"
