Thought I’d introduce myself. I’m a visual artist, performer & occasional smutmaker. My hyperfixations are environmental issues, sexuality, art, comedy and a sprinkling of skepticism & spirituality. I’m queer, polyamorous, autistic and unlike Elon Musk, I believe we need more empathy, not less.
It's been awhile since I logged in here but I am trying to overcome some writer's block and fears around talking about the climate crisis/ecological emergency and so I wrote this: substack.com/home/post/p-...

It would mean a lot to have you read it, if you have capacity to do so.

Take one minute: go to bit.ly/IsraelOnNotice and send a letter to the Israeli government, UN officials, and diplomatic missions demanding that Israel abide by international law and refrain from attacking, sabotaging or otherwise interfering with the #Madleen and her mission.

Revisiting some smutty drawings from bygone years. It’s hard to find motivation to draw #erotica these days after so much censorship and I’m exhausted from speaking up about SW rights and dealing with stigma and discrimination. But I want to find a way back to this part of myself. #eroticart #art

Unsurprising. 'Obscenity' is regularly used as a weapon to target queer and tgd people; cf. e.g. Canadian customs officials claiming in 1986 that "The Joy of Gay Sex" was 'obscene', and Canadian police in 1992 claiming the same of Lesbian magazine "Bad Attitude".

By making standards for obscenity more subjective, IODA could also open the door for conservatives to legally declare trans people in general to be “obscene.”

There's something almost breathtakingly simple about the modern far-right: they hate life, they hate everything that is deep and glorious and beautiful and vivid and messy and kind and real.

Obviously they hate all marginalised people, but also nature, creativity, colour.

Be everything they hate.

Sex workers have been screaming about the rise of fascism for a long time but nobody was listening because you’ve all been indoctrinated to hate women who are in control of our own bodies and sexualities. Maybe it’s time to listen to us.

Trump and his pals are making porn illegal. Meanwhile, he’s been sexually assaulting women and having hedonistic parties with his vile pedophile pals for years. Fascist billionaires will take away your sexual freedoms while doing whatever they want in their own lives.

Abusive men will kill themselves and their partner before ever letting their partner be free and that is happening on a global scale. Men who have been taught that power is the most important thing will kill the planet and themselves rather than practice gratitude, humbleness, awe and love.

A conservative person sits reading by a window. Their jowls tremble in outrage and their face is as red as a ripe strawberry. Finally, they sputter and shriek “UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS?! WHAT IS THIS _WOKE GARBAGE_?!!!” Then their whole body explodes.

Most people support climate action—but think they’re alone.

A global survey of 130,000 people across 125 countries found a huge 89% majority want stronger climate action to address the #ClimateCrisis.

Naiads are guardians of rivers, streams, lakes, marshes, fountains and springs. These water nymphs were seen by the Greek as life-giving and life-nurturing deities; some were even thought to possess healing or prophetic powers.

It's no coincidence that radfem politics is making inroads at the same time the political right is ascendant. Both involve denial and/or erasure of diversity, hostility to evidence that counters their narratives, and paternalistic "we know what's best for everyone" attitudes and behaviours.

At first I thought it was weird that anyone would want to “cure” autism til I remembered that fascists hate artists, scientists, activists & anyone who doesn’t fit into a monoculture, factory farm model of how to be. They’re destroying biodiversity on earth, they also wanna destroy neurodiversity.

Kinda weird that “you’re catastrophising” is still a criticism when the climate crisis is literally the biggest threat to our existence that our species has ever faced. Am I catastrophising or are you just too chickenshit to face the facts and do what you can to be a part of positive change? 🤔

When I was a kid, some other kids told me they had decided I was untrustworthy because I didn’t my eye contact while talking to them. So I taught myself to look at people’s faces as much as possible when talking to them. Except recently, at 40, I just realised that’s not actually eye contact. Oops.

I’d never speak for any other autistic person, only myself, but as I am resistant to the pathology paradigm and deeply skeptical of many facets of the fields of psychiatry and psychology, I’ve started to think of myself as “self-identified autistic” rather than “self-diagnosed”.
