Miss Pretty enjoying some cat nip Jan 14 2024. I hadn’t taken many pictures of her in the last six months because it’s really hard to take pictures of black cats in low light, but I have a lot of videos like this of her playing. Not so many from this last year but that’s ok.

It’s so lonely here without Miss Pretty. She was very needy and I didn’t even realize how often I fed her or played with her every day. How many times I checked behind myself to make sure she wasn’t under my feet in the kitchen.

In case you are looking for more proof that the internet has become some sort of emotional torture device; Facebook is giving me ads for pet insurance every third post, and reddit is showing me pictures of cats who have died.

We decided it would be best to take Miss Pretty to the vet tomorrow to help her with end of life. I am very sad but it is all I can do for her. She is probably about 15 years old, I’ve had her since 2014

This is very fascinating. For some reason, nature created a mushroom that reliably causes humans to see little people. The experience is not restricted to any specific culture, either. The mushroom has no known psychoactive components, it is unlike mescaline or psilocybin
Interesting boletus type Asian #fungi looks like the bicolor bolete in New England, with a very unlike effect:

I hoard receipts, I have a hard time parting with them. Grocery receipts are usually the easiest to let go of, though lately I’ve been looking at older ones a bit differently because of how the cost of food is rising. This one was for yarn, though. I bought six balls on August 26th 2013.

There is no sour cream at the store. I tried two stores and not a single tub!

I started cooking chilli again because we wanted more chilli. I used ground moose this time and took out two packs because my last go at chilli didn’t last long enough. Somehow moose makes more meat per pound than cows because this is too much meat.
