Ah this is the Smallville connection? The episodic tv format sounds like Coretex Plus.

What's new/unexpected about this is that it sounds like the players don't necessarily create the characters.

Sure, I just use those as a widely-understood reference point for "stuck somewhere across multiple sessions".

If the answer is that the troupe roster "sticks" until that arc is resolved, that makes sense.

This is a nitpicking line of questioning, but this stuff is where I find things break down, such as when one session wraps right before a boss fight in the bowels of a dungeon.

Do they return to the same starting point at the end of each session, do people warp in and out, or is the whole troupe traveling together and players just choose who they are paying attention to?
