This is excellent. Sadly will not be read by many of the people who need to read it

Brilliant as usual.

Summed up by "the actual Prime Minister is still missing, presumed shit"
"You don’t fight the politics of violence by quibbling with the details. You stamp it into a million pieces! You draw a f*cking line!"

If Keir Starmer won’t even make a moral case against deporting our friends and neighbours, then what is the point of him?
What Do We Have To Lose
If Keir Starmer won’t even make a moral case against deporting our friends and neighbours, then what is the point of him? Plus: some natural borders; and the non-existence of grey, and other letters.

This is an incredibly powerful and persuasive thread
On Thursday night, we heard that government was making big concessions on its planning bill, putting lots more controls on its nature recovery plans.

I find this disappointing. And to explain why, I have to tell a story I’ve been holding off from sharing.

Starmer's language was deplorable.

It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy.

But bad analogies with Powell miss the key problem. 🧵

This is fascinating but also really depressing.
I’m tired of hearing about bats. Do you want to hear a story about jumping spiders and the town that disappeared?

I think I might be breaking this story – do come be the first to read it.

I love the idea of amounts of government spend being described by the % of spend rather than just the total amount

I'm going to do some coverage on here of the assisted dying debate. If you're not interested please mute this thread now. It'll probably go on a while.

Rachel Reeves's budget promises "£3.9 billion of funding in 2025-26 for Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage Track-1 project". That's money straight down the toilet, with many billions more to follow. It's infuriating. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
