I don't get the sense that U.S. journalists have a good sense of who to talk to when basic government functions are being ripped out. Gutting the administrative state is not a standard beat. A short thread with some starter suggestions for who to read/talk to. Please - people add more in replies!

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. Question: How frequently do states send collected revenues to the Federal Government? Is this system automatic?

In Illinois, we pay $5.88 in Federal Taxes for each dollar of support (2023). This is for each individual… but does this happen at the state->national level?
