To all those thinking one person can’t make a difference, I once got an entire playground of kids in elementary school singing Shake Your Booty, simply by singing it out loud during a dodgeball game. You can do more than you realize.

(Editor’s note: it’s been downhill for Joel ever since)

Yes….silver lining of canceling Paramount and Disney is money saved and fewer choices (having infinite choices is overrated). Fuck Disney and fuck MAGA…..fucking hypocrites.

Let me just say a simple thing.

Democrats have no obligation to provide the votes to fund the destruction of our democracy.

If you want my vote for a bipartisan budget, there need to be protections to stop Trump's brazen lawlessness.

You know what else is a good one? My brother, who is a professor at Indiana University Bloomington and he’s teaching a class this quarter on the works of….Stephen King! I know they’re reading The Stand, On Writing and Pet Sematary. Would you be interested in speaking to the class by Zoom?

You know who was an immigrant to America?
Nikola Tesla.
This dude's ghost is SO PISSED that Elon Musk fucked up his name
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Good. I don’t need to hear any more from people like you.

Compelling and persuasive argument

Not true. Read the comments. Clearly, many people are saying Kirk reaped what he sowed, or that he’s a hypocrite so it serves him right. Those are not justifications for political murder. I found Charlie Kirk to be a dishonest, loathsome, despicable human and all of that is totally irrelevant.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Both are true. Arresting people and threatening their deportation because they express their opinions is an abomination and threatens the core of democracy. Murdering someone because they express abhorrent opinions is also wrong. All attacks on free speech are wrong. You don’t have to choose.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Yes, exactly. Both are wrong.

Keep reading. It’s out there in social media, implied or explicit, particularly among MAGA, not surprisingly. There is a small but growing minority in this country that think we can shoot our way out of our polarization. I’m afraid it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Don’t mourn Charlie Kirk, mourn an America that isn’t universally horrified when a despicable person is murdered simply because they have reprehensible opinions. I want to live in an America where we are allowed to speak our opinions without being arrested (Rumeysa Ozturk) or shot (Charlie Kirk)
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
But this isn’t really about Charlie Kirk. It’s about political violence. I’m not sad that the world has to go on without Charlie Kirk. I’m sad that some people don’t seem to fully appreciate what a mortal threat political violence and attacks on free speech are to our democracy. That’s what’s sad.

Putin couldn’t have created a better useful idiot than Trump in a laboratory filled with magical wizards and supercomputers. We Americans are our own worst enemies and Trump brings out the very worst in us. I don’t know how we get out of this nightmare but I’m certain it’s not through violence.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
I feel sad for America. This isn’t the way forward.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Ugh. To those of you citing Charlie Kirk’s hypocrisy and reprehensible views as an implied justification for his murder, stop and think: do you really think people should get the death penalty for hypocrisy? Or for having stupid, despicable opinions? Democracy doesn’t work if we can’t speak freely.
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
A physical attack on someone exercising their constitutional right to speak is an attack on all of us. The content of the speech is irrelevant. This is another sad day for America.

“Mean things” probably had a racing heart from the same mechanism but fortunately she made it!

Those symptoms (increased HR, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia and muscle tremors) are signs of activation of a receptor called beta 2 adrenergic receptors. I know because I’ve spent the last few years discovering novel ones for neurodegenerative disease. That dose hit lots of receptor types, no doubt.

That’s why I carry my extra large wallet to the voting booth….those license plates don’t fit in regular wallets
joelyjoelyjoelyjoe.bsky.social
Me too. I was incapable of making good decisions until I hit 40 years. Men mature later so you women probably got to good decision making around 30 years old. I apologize on behalf of men. We suck. Sorry you have to live with or around us.

Ok, but dog-earing books is a crime against humanity. I love her but I don’t approve of this.

That’s about 5 grams of caffeine (55 cups of coffee). Lethal dose is about 10 grams or more. I’m not surprised you felt bad for 3 days!

He was taking powdered caffeine to improve his exercising, I think. Anyway, moral of the story: everything in moderation and NEVER consume a pure powder of anything that you weigh out unless you know clearly what you’re doing.
