I think there’s different types of interruptions. There’s “so excited to contribute I can’t wait” like you describe, and there’s “sorry, this is urgent” but there‘s also “I don’t consider you talking to be worth my notice and so will just talk over you because I am the center of the universe“

Oh my. Just finished House of Idyll by @delilahsdawson.bsky.social and I can’t remember another book that kept me guessing so thoroughly. I was rooting for everyone—yeah even that one—until the last pages when All The Shit Gets Real Real. I hope she’s planning a sequel because I need to know more.

genuinely shocked to see no mention of Cryptonomicon, easily one of my favorite books ever.

Totally agreed his stuff has declined since, although I enjoyed Anathem, really liked Seveneves, and found Reamde…fine. I had to force myself to finish Fall; I kept expecting it to get good at some point.
