People will die, and are currently dying, because RFK was granted one of the most powerful megaphones in the country. Two people who could have thrown barriers in front of his climb decided not to; there's a sex scandal here but it is not the biggest scandal.

The past several days have been a bit frustrating and teeth grinding, so personally I'm ha ha ha very thankful I've got a week to work past all of it before Thanksgiving.

Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

I had a college writing class with John Edgar Wideman. He was always supportive, but one of the last things he said to me at the end of the semester was he looked forward to reading my published work. No qualifiers or waffling. Just a simple, confident statement that I'd succeed at this.
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

This is why we all freak out about theft btw, bc just a few copies can make an actual, real difference. you would be surprised at how few copies someone needs to make it onto a bestseller list
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Giving this a little bump because apparently a lot of folks missed it and some other folks are *really determined* to find someone to blame for it. Despite me explaining it's just crap luck and there's no one to blame.

If you hadn’t already seen, as of this morning the audiobook version of GOD's JUNK DRAWER has been pushed back to January 20th because it’s been dealing with a sort of rolling technical difficulty. I’m so very sorry.

Giving this a little bump because apparently a lot of folks missed it and some other folks are *really determined* to find someone to blame for it. Despite me explaining it's just crap luck and there's no one to blame.
Comedy is dead because I read something like this and have no idea if it's a joke or satire or just a dry, factual reading of a press release. No part of this is too ridiculous to have actually come out of the president's mouth.
The White House pardons of last year’s turkeys, Peach and Blossom, declared "null and void” because then-President Biden used an autopen, says President Trump (adding the two birds were then sent on their way to “processing” but he’s now issued a valid pardon for them).
