It seems that Kaleb Horton has passed away. A devastating loss. One of the best writers of this generation. Kaleb was a friend for ten years and in all our conversations I was trying to convince him how good he was, something he seemed to know but also never fully believe. I am going to go cry now.

reminder: Jimmy Kimmel is enough of a mensch that he devised a segment on which actors who are just short of having enough work to qualify for union healthcare come on his show and deliver a single line of dialogue

Many developments since , and even more public misconceptions, but I remain proud (and hopeful) as 1 of 3 authors representing the class and standing up for copyright, even in the face of blinding tech progress. More soon. #AI #authors #publishers #copyright

A year ago, doctors told me I had neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas. I’d probably been living with it for a decade. I will likely never be cured. But after a year of surgeries, radiation and monthly shots with a giant needle, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. defector.com/my-life-with...

Teens calling Idaho's suicide hotline are being told they can't proceed with the conversation without parental consent. Many of the callers are then hanging up.

Idaho approved a strict parental consent law last year.

Weakly argued piece, blandly written. Mostly hand-waving: Maybe a president demanding more seats from his party will be good for "democracy" bc voters will say "I don't like this."

How can they register their disapproval? That's the point of a gerrymander, they can't!

During our nine days in South Louisiana, photographer John Noltner and I heard a lot about disappearance. Not only are wetlands vanishing, but so is Black-owned farmland. (1/4)

Witnessed a ribbon cutting at a new rest stop in OH. I wasn't sure what was going on since it was packed. I asked a guy at the door if I could enter. A short old man, some official, emerged from the crowd and hobbled forward, arms outstretched, and said "Yes! Come in! Come in and use the bathroom!"

Hello. I wrote a nice long essay about AI and this very strange moment where we're constantly told we're living in the dawn of a strange new future but the only thing that's actually clear is that everyone feels pretty unmoored and uncertain. I hope you'll read it
