Yup: "80% of anti-trans organizations receive fossil fuel funding."

For more on this listen to "Carbon Bros," the latest season of @drilledmedia.bsky.social with @amywestervelt.bsky.social
Excellent reporting from Heated and Atmos.

It looks like some of the biggest investors in the anti-trans movement are fossil fuel billionaires who are trying to use trans issues to ensure that Republicans pass policies favorable to their industry.

Being disabled/chronically ill means constantly balancing two impossible tasks: convincing the state/doctors that you’re “disabled/sick enough” to deserve help and convincing everyone else that you’re “well enough” to be worth keeping around.

Politics is not a game. It's people's lives.

The Government's welfare cuts will have a catastrophic impact on the sick & disabled, and plunge hundreds of thousands of people into poverty.

It's simple: show some humanity and drop this Bill, now.

So the #PlanForChange is that the NHS offers you assisted dying when your illness is untreatable because it can't afford to treat you or to offer palliative care – or you can choose to die in pain and poverty when too ill to earn a living, because disability welfare will no longer be there for you.
"Rehabilitation centres face being shut, talking therapies services cut & beds for end-of-life care reduced as part of efforts by NHS trusts to comply with a 'financial reset'."

The destruction of core, vital, humane NHS services - under a Labour government 😔

(long🧵) Watching some gays & lesbians celebrate that heinous UK Court ruling against trans women has me again thinking about how little most gay people know about their own history. Please hear this from me as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist re latest press release—it’s important.

The ‘not needing to seek work’ group (LCWRA) does NOT push people out of work. It exists to stop people from killing themselves or their health hugely deteriorating.

Misrepresenting is dangerous.

ITV has discovered details of the disability benefits cuts:

- PIP will be harder to qualify for
- PIP will be frozen not rise with inflation
- universal credit rate cut for unfit for work but raised for those looking for work or in work

This is so unspeakably cruel + will kill disabled people

I am disgusted by the government’s relentless demonisation of disabled people.

All so they can protect the wealthiest from paying their fair share.

Instead of targeting the most vulnerable, let’s “crack down” on corporations and billionaires evading tax instead.
