Cleaning my kitchen and I realized that some specific person in history or prehistory must have been thinking of ways to reduce damage to workers’ backs, so they INVENTED the technology of the Broom and the Mop by attaching a brush or a rag to the end of a stick.

I’m fascinated with #Sinners as a sociological phenomenon — it’s a movie made by Black American millennials who are #deconstructing the White religion of their parents’ generation 1/4

A Philip Glass film score could be performed in a concert hall. Here are seven of his best scores, all written for good movies in a variety of genres by directors with different styles. For me, Mishima's sense of the unity of aesthetics/ethics was the missing link between Schrader’s films about the war between body/spirit like The Last Temptation and First Reformed on the one hand — and the violent right-wing loners like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull on the other hand.
A ★★★★½ review of Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985)
This was my first time catching up with this one… Presently still processing. Wow   Formally, this is totally my kind of shit: self-conscious employment of Japanese aesthetics, with nonlinear editing ...

Ever notice that whenever a smaller group dominates a larger one, people tend to assume that the smaller group must be smarter than everyone else or otherwise how can we explain it? I like how #StarWars is clear that the little guys can win through luck and hokey religions

I would never have read THIS movie THAT way until seeing the deplorable way the Star Wars fandom has treated so-called “woke” representation — and then seeing that same fascist mob storm the U.S. Capitol and then come back to seize the entire Executive Branch.

My #letterboxd review of #starwars.

The #letterboxd autocorrect is weird. It intentionally doesn’t help you when you try to spell certain words. It didn’t like me trying to type the words “White supremacy” and “sexist”. #autocorrect #censorship ?!

Just learned about Steven Soderbergh’s (illegal) alternate cut of 2001: A Space Odyssey. His more elliptical and expressive version felt to me like an almost wordless documentary from the POV of the aliens. The much faster pace also seemed to clarify some of Arthur C Clarke’s original themes.
A ★★★★★ review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
