Trump wants to “drill baby drill“. But US oil exploration companies are cutting back. The price of oil is dropping like a rock and the cost of drilling machinery and materials is going up because of tariffs. Once again, Trump gets the exact opposite effect from what he wanted. What a klutz!

Trump isn’t a complete example of the “Dark Triad”. He clearly checks the narcissism box, and probably psychopathy, but he lacks the cognitive control and strategic discipline for Machiavellianism. His impulses override any long game. In other words, he’s simply not smart enough to be truly evil.

If the democrats can’t parlay this tariff fiasco (a tax on the poor and middle class) and the tax cut (for the rich) into a mid term election grand slam then they should just pack it in and give up!

It is important to apply the rules of critical thinking to yourself. Once you invest your ego in a conclusion, motivated reasoning will distort and bias your critical thinking in that direction. In the end, you will still be wrong; you will just be more confident in your error.

The new administration is staffing the most important departments with loyalist who are unqualified for their jobs (health and human services, defense, Attorney General, education, FBI, national intelligence). Cronyism reminiscent of Soviet Union under Brezhnev.
