If your point was “everyone was mandated to get vaccinated or lose their job,” an article that says, “the govt says these unvaccinated people must get their job back” does not support that point.

Having grown up constantly being told to verify everything I read on Wikipedia before using it in school papers, I find it baffling that people cannot grasp that there are no controls on where the information regurgitation machine is getting its information.

It can read as condescending in the context of the moment. I think most people understand one way or another this is going to get worse before it gets better. I don’t see the point in haranguing people about things they have no power to enact. Maybe not your intent, but it’s how it comes across.

Perhaps! It’s possible I’ve seen one too many posts that read as dismissive rather than understanding of the emotions at play and hit my limit. I think there’s a big distinction between activists acting rashly or reacting in a panic and people online begging leaders to take action.

Which part isn’t right? That you are dismissive of the emotions and fear at play? That you are policing how people put that fear and emotion into words? Or that people are dying? Like genuinely what was the purpose of your original responses?

Your scolding responses fail to acknowledge the fear and uncertainty of the moment. You not only criticize the desire for action, but you hold random people to the standard of elected leaders. Why? Can you not just recognize the emotions at play and move on? People are literally dying.

You’re right, comparing the social posts of scared civilians with the tactics and actions of a national leader has really illustrated your point to me. Be real, dude. People are scared and demanding action and protection from state violence. We don’t have a Zelensky, just ineffective cowards.

You have the Ukrainian flag on your display name, would you tell them the same thing? To accept the invasion for fear of a worse conflict? People don’t WANT conflict, it’s being forced on us by a criminal, fascist regime. Telling people to just take it is untenable.

I like to say democrats pursue BS solutions for real problems, while republicans pursue real solutions to BS problems. This framing has never let me down.

I think most people understand this but still want to see strength and actions from leaders. If the police can’t be relied upon, say that and say what CAN be done and who CAN be relied on. The status quo of fear and inaction is untenable.

Not Jeopardy but I was on a local quiz show for high schoolers called High Q and led my team to a single victory before getting obliterated by a team from a much wealthier school district.

I’ve somehow managed to rebuild my mostly bot twitter following with a mostly bot Bluesky following. I don’t know how it happened but it really makes Bluesky feel like home.
