The lack of fresh air on airplanes increases the risk of infection from covid and other airborne diseases. Wear a decent respirator on flights and other forms of transport, e.g. long bus/train journeys, for protection.

I am concerned about the poor air quality apparent inside aeroplane cabins, which are after all workplaces (for cabin crew and pilots).
I was on a Ryanair flight ex-Bari (Puglia/Apulia) last Wednesday and as always, when I am on-board a plane, I monitor the carbon dioxide concentration in the

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.

Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt £122m - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’.

What, Michelle? 🧵

Today is World Ozone Day.

Atmospheric scientists identified the chemicals destroying stratospheric ozone and made recommendations that politicians followed.

As a result the ozone layer is recovering.

This science success story is a valuable lesson for dealing with climate change.

The ozone hole was real. The danger was global.

World leaders acted together, and the ozone layer is healing.

This World Ozone Day, we celebrate what science and cooperation can achieve. 🌍

In my experience, the general public often don't understand the extent to which critical infrastructure systems rely on very small groups of highly-trained individuals.

In addition, some of these controllers will have lingering cognitive effects.

Our letter about poor indoor air quality in schools was published in the @irishtimes.com today.

Illness is the leading cause of school absence: To reduce the number of school-acquired infections, we must address indoor air quality as an absolute priority.

Interesting read. Are dark forces behind the "beds in garden sheds" idea currently proposed by the Irish government?

Abundance' is a buzz word generated by US tech bros and their push to deregulate in order to allow development.
Its adoption here means pushing for windowless apartments and back garden sheds as housing, writes Theo McDonald in @irishexaminer.bsky.social

UK newspaper consistently publishes articles attacking net zero policies and having to later "correct the record" in small print weeks later, after the damage has been done.

I wonder if they would stop this practice if a fine of say £100,000 was issued every time?
leohickman.carbonbrief.org
The Telegraph is now having to publish so many corrections to articles where it attempts to find *any angle whatsoever* to attack net-zero polices that it makes sense to start tracking them here.

These are the ones published since Labour won the election.

"We are happy to correct the record."

Another summer spike of covid19 in Ireland and elsewhere, putting to bed any notions that it is seasonal, like flu or colds.

If you get symptoms like flu or a cold in summer it is more likely to be covid than anything else.
