Charlie who?
Never heard of him a week ago. There are bigger things happening in the world that I care about. American bombs killing innocent civilians being one of them .

Musk may be the richest guy in the world, but he definitely isn’t the wisest. He hasn’t worked out that the people who buy electric cars are exactly the people he has upset with his politics.

US imports from China -which are now subject to 245% Tariffs - only represent 3% of China’s total exports. The Tariffs are going to hurt Americans more than Chinese .

Top selling car in USA: Ford pickup - from $40,000, 15mpg, 241 in long, 81 in wide.
Top selling car in Europe: Dacia Sandero SUV, from $15,000, 45mpg, 157 in long, 68 in wide.
Go figure!

why so few US cars in Europe?
American cars are designed for use in America, not Europe where:
Gas costs twice as much
parking spaces are small
Roads are narrow/twisty
large pick- ups unpopular

The answer is called marketing. If US bothered to make the cars Europeans want, they’d sell them.
Simple.

EU seeks unity in first strike back at Trump tariffs
The European Commission, which coordinates EU trade policy, will propose to members late on Monday a list of U.S. products to hit with extra duties in response to Trump's steel and aluminium tariffs rather than the broader reciprocal levies.

So the weaker nations are calling Trump to negotiate, but the countries with clout, e.g. China, Canada are standing up to Trump. Another 30 -60 days like this and the US will be heading into recession.

So China hasn’t come crawling to Trump for a deal. Neither has Canada. The EU has yet to reveal its hand but has many powerful cards up its sleeve, and Trump says it’s going well?

The US Stock market obviously knows nothing about the car market. Tesla as a brand is finished. When 2/3rds of your potential customers think it’s uncool to own your product, your sales will never recover. Musk leaving DOGE will have no impact on people’s feeling towards him.
