Terrible news about the end of CHUO, The University of Ottawa's campus station. This is the result of the removal of the student fee levy that partially funded the station.

CHUO 89.1 FM will cease live programming Dec. 15. One host compared hearing the news to getting 'hit by a freight train.'

Another claim: “Docs will just do private cases evenings and weekends.”

In a system already facing burnout, short-staffed shifts, and vacant nursing positions, banking on everyone happily adding a second job is… optimistic.

I spent most of the weekend photographing the Parkland Institute's 29th annual fall conference. This year's theme was Democracy Under Siege: Strengthening the Safeguards. The overall theme was the rise of autocracy and misinformation, and how this is causing democracy to crumble.

Not just in terms of public opinion, but in terms of political culture.

Champions of human rights and the constitution must not only outnumber the premier's supporters.

They must persuade Albertans that these positions are dominant, piercing the populist bubble.
