Liverpool, politics, theatre, wine, cricket, travel, Eurovison, family, republican (in the UK sense not US) - and more. Wry observations. General disdain.
@thetimes.com Shame on your sub-editors for these 's.

We may think the cats love us for our company, but it really is only about food!

This letter from the Epstein files, reproduced in The Times, should surely form the basis for a police investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The New Statesman report on the briefing given to Starmer about the potential candidates to be Ambassador to Washington is devastating for Starmer.

Not entirely sure at this point which is the teddy bear and which is the cat...

This is simply pathetic from Mandelson about the $75k of payments shown in the new Epstein papers.

Time to kick him out of the party.

She's decided she wants to be giftwrapped along with the other birthday presents...

Labour's ineptitude summed up.

Blatant lie from the ultra-ambitious Badenoch.

I genuinely read that as "PM" not "MP". Which, of course, is true.

Why are you disturbing our nap, when we have such lovely clean bedding to sleep on?

Tillie says hi!

One of my team shared this recently. It's the perfect illustration of the need for careful hyphenation!

I'm not sure Millie wants to let me past to get to bed...

Now that's what I call journalism: summing up that utter AFCON chaos in just a few words. Even if nothing can capture how awful the penalty was...

If I'm stupid enough to leave a box sitting round, a cat will surely occupy it...

Time to pot a red... if they switch to snooker instead of #TOTP

Great to see this from my friend Mike Reader today.

If you're a Labour supporter and don't follow one of the very best of the new 2024 MPs, he's well worth following here at @mike-reader.bsky.social

Too few MPs have a business / construction background, rather than being career politicians.

Trump appears to be entirely ignorant of how NATO works. If Russia or China did try to occupy Greenland, the US would already obliged to defend it - along with the rest of NATO. Whether Greenlandd's part of Denmark or the US makes not one iota of difference.

The first Eurovision entries of the year are on Spotify. One of the most uplifting moments of the year!

Any idea where our daughter's school bag is, Tillie? I've been hunting everywhere for it...
January 14, 2026 at 9:57 PM
This is spot on, from a retired French general. Trump may be arrogant and stupid, but he wouldn't be arrogant and stupid enough to have US troops fighting European ones.
January 11, 2026 at 4:48 PM
Remember, don't have nightmares, folks. Even if you did watch Pan's People dancing to Jungle Rock on #TOTP earlier.

Staff covering the hotel bar on a quiet night had to try to work out how to make a mojito for me. It's way too weak - but they didn't charge me despite my attempts to pay, so I can't complain.

And actually a weak mojito as a longer drink is a rather nice idea!
