Thinking on it more, this is an idea only slightly more absurd than warrior chefs, and I somehow got a publisher to go in on a three-book deal for that, which now stands as proof I can take a silly idea and make it work.

Gassing myself up on a Wednesday night.

Last short is genuinely pretty great, but otherwise, about as hit-or-miss as VHS usually tends to be.

Broke the general outline for this story and really, when you get past the absurd premise, I think it's got everything you'd want from high-action adventure book in the vein late-90s/early-00s Toonami.

It's a bummer feeling like most of my lived experience getting into comics would be practically useless as advice to new creators.

Pretty much every success and development of my career came from starting a Twitter account and using it. Fundamentally don't know how I'd have made anything happen without it, hate that it's become what it's become.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

This year has been a lot of pitching, getting rejected, and rallying to keep pitching, so hoping it can end with a win.

Another horror pitch going out. It made it pretty far at one place before getting the pass, so feels like it has a good shot now that it's going wide. One of my favorite ideas in a while, so fingers crossed!

I've been a fan of his since he was in a show on Prime, it feels inevitable he really makes a mark.

About to go to bed, but for those who missed it: my latest comic, Requiem #3, is officially launched on Kickstarter!

More Irish activists have now been taken by the IDF from international waters including author Naoise Dolan, TD Barry Heneghan and psychiatrist Veronica O’Keane.

They are part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

This was pretty disjointed on the whole, but Ray Nicholson continues to be a nepo baby to watch, he's got the goods.

I keep thinking about getting a refurbished iPod. I should at least revisit
my iTunes, which is a full time capsule of my college tastes at this point.

As a horror movie, this doesn't do anything that remarkable, but as a look at the endless pitfalls and problems of indie filmmaking, it's a pretty fun time!

Life would probably be easier if I loved making comics less, but as a creative, I'd probably be hosed no matter what.
jordanalsaqa.bsky.social
Also, I should say hit those points in the initial book, books 2 and the forthcoming 3 definitely hit the stuff, and I at least managed to set some very vague foreshadowing in book 1 that can theoretically payoff later.
jordanalsaqa.bsky.social
I don't have adaptation as an end goal for any of my work (though god knows I could use the paycheck), but I like the thought of a potential adaptation spurring further books even if it's years down the road.
jordanalsaqa.bsky.social
If I'd had any idea where the story would end up kind of naturally going, I'd have pushed to hit more of what I wanted in the initial three books, but I'm glad I've at least started putting that narrative set-up in place and working towards it.
