New preprint! 🐛 Root-knot nematodes hijack root cells, turning them into feeding sites and making plants very sick. Using a cross-species scRNA-seq approach we mapped this process and show how this knowledge can be used to engineer resistant crops.🌱 A summary🧵 :

Recently, both our team and the Richardson/Estelle/Strader teams showed that ARF transcription factors are actively degraded. In this new preprint, Martijn de Roij explores the requirements and relevance of ARF degradation (1/7)

I partly agree. The historical problem (not only in plants) is taking a single species as paradigm. We now have an unrealistic view of what TFs/regulators do. IMO we can keep being regulator-centric if the research question is properly established and accept there are species-specific 'situations'.

Y si este era tu primer proyecto (track A), debes saber que este año fue más difícil que el anterior: tasa de éxito del 30%, frente al 37% del PID2023.

Nice round figures is all this is about, data is just a byproduct, right?
Hahaha, poor student! We both know more is not necessarily better, and less is many times enough...can be a tough realization. That piece felt a bit like patchwork of two different chapters that were regarded as 'not enough'.

Sounds like the best workshop ever, I'd love to witness it! Enjoy!
