I meant more the free-floating bike share and the overall biking culture in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore compared to Seattle.

Should have put that in my original post. 😅

Seattle has an excellent bike share program through Lime and is improving safe routes to ride.

And not many bike lanes in Asia. Didn’t come across many in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, or Singapore (though it did have shared pathways for walking and biking, which produced mixed results).

Seattle on the other hand has been primarily shaped by its desire to be a hub for global biz. This created a less livable downtown in exchange for feeding the needs of corporations of different eras - Boeing, Microsoft, and most recently Amazon.

HK’s political transition also undoubtedly helped shape Vancouver, which leaned heavily into housing, walkability, and transit as it grew with immigrants from Asia, most notably HK.
