Last month, two paddleboarders had to be rescued in Lake Superior, two miles from shore. One had never paddleboarded before -- neither wore a life jacket. Thankfully their story had a happy ending. Increase your odds of a safe paddling trip by learning to evaluate/respond to weather:
Flipping your kayak or paddleboard in open water not always a laughing matter
Knowing basic safety skills will help paddlers stay safe no matter what type of water they venture on.

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.
The top 10% now hold 67.4% of all the wealth in the US.

The bottom 50% hold 2.5%.

Just five media companies control 90% of our media market.

But it’s not just media. In 75% of U.S. industries, fewer companies now control more of their markets than they did 20 years ago – leaving us vulnerable to higher prices and lower wages.

Very cool! Michigan has four species of native lamprey -- and not all are parasitic. As @solomonrdavid.bsky.social says, native parasitic lamprey species are smaller than invasive sea lamprey and take less of a toll on the fish they feed from, increasing the odds of survival. A healthy balance!
Bloodsucking parasite, but it’s a native fish!

Check out this native lamprey (compared to invasive Sea Lamprey) on a Northern Pike in a Minnesota River.

Parasitic lamprey species attached to hosts, rasp a hole and suck blood (but native species don’t typically cause death). Both fishes released!

They are telling you you "can't tax capital gains" while they fly private jets from their yacht in the South of France to their third home in Aspen.

Stop buying it.

They live off their capital gains the same way we live off our income.

The difference is, we pay our fair share.

The 100 lowest-paying US corporations spent $644B on stock buybacks from 2019 to 2024.

Buybacks artificially boost share prices and inflate CEO pay.

The typical worker at these companies earned $35k last year.

Meanwhile, the average CEO was paid $17.2M

When people say "We used to drink raw milk from our own cow and it was fine,"

That's... usually not the case!

In families w their own cow, the mom usually boiled it before using.

We just forgot bc that's a boring chore that mom did. And who pays attention to that?

100%? 500%?

Try 1,085%

Meanwhile, the $7.25/hr fed. minimum wage hasn't budged in 15 years and the tipped min. wage has been $2.13/hr since 1991.

Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?
