It is a tangled mess to be sure, and it will be tough to untangle it, especially as long as the companies that specifically made the tangle have no interest in doing so. Gonna need smarter people than me to figure that one out.

Admittedly, there are of course plenty of tiny game companies that rely on using licenced programs to make their games, programs that use things that are currently labeled "AI". And I bet a lot of these companies absolutely did not ask for that shit to happen.
I absolutely have sympathy for them.

I would not be surprised if the first draft was Tim just taking a dump and the last panel starting with "Will you at least stop throwing your used toilet paper in our mailbox?"
In other words, we actually got the more tasteful and classy version, people. It could have been much worse!

So if the problem is a result from these companies inaccurately labeling all sorts of stuff as "AI" to begin with, then yeah. Turns out doing that could lead to consequences.
And if they want to avoid those consequences, it is their responsibility to make a solution for that.

But that problem stems in turn from all the companies trying to sell "AI", NVidia included, having turned it into a catch-all umbrella term, including all sorts of good or less good algorithm use that has been around for years or even decades.

Honestly, it would not be too farfetched to use the setting of the Eyrewood as the thematic backdrop for this game.
Not quite right either, necessarily, as the relations between the Eyrewood factions are... Complicated, rather than simply hostile.
But the idea is at least a bit alluring, no?
