The FBI may no longer be relying on SPLC, but their anti-extremist resources are still extremely worthwhile, especially these days. So in that spirit, time to re-up the thread of extremist profiles I wrote for them on scientific racists

I’ve shared these a few times on the other site, but since everything is new again, here’s a thread of extremist profiles on prominent scientific racists I wrote for @SPLC roughly 10 years ago:

Not quite the same thing, but CS Lewis and Aldous Huxley both died on November 22, 1963 -- the day JFK was assassinated. Lewis himself lost consciousness less than an hour before the gunshot in Dealey Plaza.

As someone who worked there, the reason CAP isn't trying is because they're not a liberal Heritage Foundation devoted to generational furtherment of liberal ideals. They were a 501c3 dedicated to making Hillary Clinton and possibly her daughter president and they catastrophically failed at it

The very well funded Center for American Progress has been in operation since 2004. The Democrats do not have “nothing” they’re just not trying.

Love getting to the age where I have to shift from thinking "Damn, I'm older than that incredibly accomplished person was when they did all that" to "Damn, I'm older than that incredibly accomplished person was when they kicked it."

On this day in 1849, writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe passed away in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 40. It's been said his final words were, "Lord help my poor soul."

This and the 'your pet is killing the planet' story appear every 2-3 months. Which, if you're keeping track, is far more often than 'billionaires will eventually kill the planet because it's all they really know how to do' stories, which stand at zero.

Remarkable stats here. Big year-over-year dropoff in international student arrivals, including a 44% dropoff from India. Smaller dropoff from China, but those numbers were already way down post-pandemic.
Nearly 20 Percent Fewer International Students Traveled to the U.S. in August
The data shows the steepest decline in August international student arrivals since the pandemic.

This is complete and utter pompous bullshit. It's telling that of the people proposing it wants to anoint themselves director general when every one of his claims of having discovered technosignature interstellar objects has been debunked by the planetary community. arxiv.org/pdf/2510.01405

I've only gotten them on overnight translatlantic flights, but it at least used to be pretty standard for first class on domestic flights (Not that I know this from personal experience flying first)

And yet people act all confused when the the flight attendant comes through the first class cabin to offer them a moist toilet

When I moved from Memphis to Seattle in Jr High, I got sent to the principal's office more than once for calling a teacher ma'am. Clearly a vicious attack on her person

if you ask the average American to describe what they think a tougher immigration system should look like, they will describe something a degree of magnitude softer and more generous than the current reality.

The lesson here is that people are both better and dumber than they appear.

the reason he wrote the piece is essentially as a warning to the New Right to get serious about regime consolidation because he knows most of the radical Trumpist courtiers don't have a plan outside a vague "own the libs" ad-hocracy
