The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

@us.theguardian.com Please explain how (if) The Guardian, last bastion of progressive MSM arrived at your decision to replace scores of journalists with AI.

Is this just another false rumor, as I hope?

Dear Canada,

A whole lot of us are horrified and doing our best as opposition....

and yeah, we're also super-embarrassed by how stupid Donald Trump is and how crassly normalizing the New York Times is.

sincerely,

The archbishop of New Orleans’s (morally) bankrupt Roman Catholic archdiocese on Thursday abruptly fired and replaced top leaders at a church-affiliated food bank, with those dismissed saying it was because the non-profit refused to contribute to paying survivors of child sexual abuse by clergymen.

In the midst of so much anticipatory obedience and general lack of courage, this is heartening. Thanks for posting it.
The Inspectors General refuse to leave until the action is taken legally, which they do not believe it was, and neither do senators like Chuck Grassley. This is what not backing down looks like.

Glad to learn that President Biden granted clemency to Ravi Ragbir. But I haven’t seen anything about Leonard Peltier.

He’s running out of time.

Wondering when/if NYC will start requiring bins instead of piles of garbage bags everywhere. Thought it would be happening now, but apparently not yet. Rats!

It's not hard to be braver and have more integrity than a billionaire or a GOP senator, and it's clear the job of opposing authoritarianism and destruction will be largely up to the ordinary people who together constitute civil society.

A few important fact to remember:

S. Korea lived under some form of military dictatorship from 1965-1988!

Brazil lived under a military dictatorship from 1964-1985!

I might not be up to date, but as I understand it, so far, President Biden has pardoned a bunch of turkeys and his son Hunter.

I'm hoping he will use also this presidential power to save some lives and for a long-overdue pardon for Leonard Peltier.

Just tried to contact one of my Senators about H.R. 9495, the dangerous #KillNonprofits bill that passed the House last week.

I know it's a couple of days before a holiday, but it still doesn't seem right that no one is answering the phone at the DC or NYC offices of #SenatorSchumer
