"Fire" was fine
"Goldfish" was pretty good

But "Jinx"...

"Jinx" is the first Bendis masterpiece

Incredible tome. Hefty, complex, daring. Just incredible storytelling. I understand why he would name his independent label "Jinxworld"

Proto Jessica Jones even, a true crime masterpiece

If I am to be completely honest, my first superhero book already made me fall in love with superheroes because, well, I was already in, addicted to Smallville and Spider-Man by Raimi. But I think these two above started to open my mind to something bigger, and then Morrison would explode the dam

What's the first comic book that made you fall in love with superheroes?
#comicsky

(I can't quite remember which came first, but I think those were the first times I began to see the potential of the superhero to tell stories about heightened and potentialized human feelings. Also, Superman!)

Hmm ok, this is the Kingdom Come design, but he is not really a character in that story

The closest I can think is "The Dark Things", a JLA/JSA crossover during the run James Robinson wrote for the JLA. It's an underrated run, imo

Reread "The Red Wing" by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Pitarra and Rachelle Rosenberg

It's fantastic. Maybe my favorite of the Hickman Image 4-parters. Poignant and efficient, perfectly tailored for its space

An archetypical tale with a time shenanigans twist about consequences in Hickman stories

Reread "Transhuman", by Jonathan Hickman and JM Ringuet

Maybe because I read them a long time ago, I didn't remember these early Hickman stories being so mean. Deep dark humor, to the point of mean-spiritedness

With that said, it's classic Hickman, and it flows beautifully. Very compact.

Man, Alpha was fun...

This book has been on fire for a while and the fire burns forever here

Incredible tie-in. Incredible payoff for more threads. Really can't wait for Endgame #2

I do appreciate how the issue ties up the whole run with the idea of the Avengers as "mythological heroes", the idea that they are "firefighters" thrown in the first issue. And it is fitting for a celebration issue, but at the same time, it is not very exciting

Avengers #34 (or #800 if you're feeling celebratory!) is shaping up to be an okay climax to a run that I felt showed more promise but is kind of inevitably having to close a very ambitious story in a very unambitious way

Maybe the shadow of Hickman is still too large, the resolution being very SW

Been thinking about "Resurrection of Magneto"

In a bolder world, I would have loved to see a follow-up to this conclusion, the idea of Magneto as a champion for "ALL WHO ARE HATED AND FEARED". In the days of Israel's ongoing genocide of Palestine, it would have been such a powerful theme to explore

They just did something with the name with Reed in One World Under Doom, but I really disliked it, personally. It felt like a poor man's Sorcerer Supreme in this instance, more of an "LOOK HOW AWESOME IT IS" without style or substance. But oh well

I think it's pretty much the intention for Tony to be Kang with his Iron Lad name. Their armor is basically the same. During the last half year of Ultimates he also been toying heavy with time. Might be a red herring, but for drama's sake, I think it's better to take it at face value
January 7, 2026 at 8:59 PM
Only thing I hope is that it gets personal at the end. I want a good old personal confrontation and for Camp to pick up on the ending of Invasion, with Howard seeing who Kang was and it was implied it was Tony. I want Tony to almost fall but change this "inevitable" future.

This was such a great mini. Best use of these characters in a great while, particularly Lian and Cheetah. Also my favorite Nicola Scott work since Historia, and that was a deluxe project.

Helps that it's also a stealth epilogue to one half of my favorite Wonder Woman run ever. Incredible tale

I truly hope those news about a future Gillen Krakoa X-Men Omnibus are not fully true, because by the lord, that's an AWFUL collection if so

No AXE tie ins, no Sins of Sinister issues, NO GODDAMN RISE OF THE POWERS OF X, THE CONCLUSION OF THE FUCKING RUN?

I have to believe there will be more......
January 5, 2026 at 7:36 PM
Hmm probably Wiccan and Hulking!

That said, just as an addendum, my previous favorite one was Karolina Dean and Julie Powers... I just loved the idea of them together D:
Karolina and Nico is ok, but man...

Really like how Priest works Slade's history into the title. It gives this holistic feeling to the run. Loved how he didn't sugarcoat or try to avoid/soften the Terra thing, instead using it to point out Slade's nature, his ugly way of thinking and even got his few close friends going "are you mad?"

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.

(what a particular "that isn't" list haha)

Played less than half the number of games I played last year

Which means I only got into the time sinkers, pass the time kind of games and engaged less this year with gaming as a whole. Was more of a movie and comic book guy this year
