Right?
I have very vivid memories of this because it was my very first big Marvel event. After I started reading back in 2006, there was House of M, but Civil War was HUGE.

Hope you enjoy it!
Personally, I really like it, and PTA is one of my favorites. I do find that watching his movies a second time always unlocks something for me!
My least favorite PTA is Inherent Vice, and even then, watching it a second time made me appreciate it a lot more

C'mon, that's adorable! Incredible panel

I second that. Johns's JSA is my favorite long-form work of his, it's stellar stuff from start to finish, and the best way to follow his style evolving from newcomer to Mr. DC Comics of the 2000s

If I am to be completely honest, my first superhero book already made me fall in love with superheroes because, well, I was already in, addicted to Smallville and Spider-Man by Raimi. But I think these two above started to open my mind to something bigger, and then Morrison would explode the dam

Yeah, this will do it. One of the flashiest and most exciting and most blockbuster DC events ever. Recently reread and it's still a pleasure to behold

Hmm ok, this is the Kingdom Come design, but he is not really a character in that story

The closest I can think is "The Dark Things", a JLA/JSA crossover during the run James Robinson wrote for the JLA. It's an underrated run, imo

And you hate to see it, because man, this comic was BRUTAL... D:

Oh, and by a writer you seem to love as well!! That here is part of the dream, bud! Cheers!

I admit I have no idea which list yoh're talking about, but I can relate with not taking CBR serious, only good thinh left there is Brian Cronin

With that said, with what you describe, wouldn't surprise me if the criteria is mostly popularity, since AWW is incredibly blockbuster popular for example

It was jarring coming back to it, because I remembered so little about it. A little bit of the worst excesses of the 2000s there, very early stuff from someone who would get much more sophisticated with his craft, for sure

I'm LOVING this whole series

Something I really like about these early Hickman works is the rhymes between issues. Sequences are repeated, returning to old contexts when they become new. Wish "Transhuman" had one such rhyme in its last issue, to close it off, but it's really cool overall
