Just made my first actual substantive PR to emmeans (that I am learning how to co-maintain). By substantive, I don't mean huge, but something that's not just fixed typos. Dang, it's terrifying to try to carry on a legacy package.

apropos of me rewatching it, the Acolyte is good. Sure, it's no Andor, but it is a well paced, interesting story with some very strong emotional beats. Bummer that Disney gave into the trolls and cancelled it.

There are actually open jobs with the USA Jobs (the hiring freeze is over) probably some people are applying, but I'm curious what the application rate is now.

hey folks, I know we are all struggling. Here is a reminder to take a breath and attend to your needs, whatever they may be. For me, there are some writers I enjoy, and crafts that occupy my mind in a positive way. What helps you?

13. Episode with a great one-off celebrity guest: the answer is of course Iggy Pop in DS9's "the Magnificent Ferengi", which is as fun as it sounds.

The Project 2025 version of ag research has the intellectual rigor of a high school research paper. I'm guessing they read a few press releases and had zero convo's with ag researchers before writing cultural war gems like this:
