kafka is such an administrative nightmare, i am endlessly amazed that anyone would run it in production. surely we can do something better??? oh right.. redpanda or something, but that costs $$ so rather than pay $$ they pay me 1/$ to follow a runbook :cry:

It occurs to me that anyone who trusts an LLM while at the same time understanding that it is all based on probability should probably read the Philip K. Dick story, The Minority Report and draw some conclusions.

My fav feature of apple's UI/UX updates in 26 is musicapp on macos when you click the three lines to see playing next and the button moves out from under pointer. What should be a toggle button has moved.
We learned our UI/UX lessons decades ago (I did) but apple is making the same amateur mistakes.

So your employer ate the cost of rising healthcare premiums (mine did too).
What do you think that is going to mean come time for raises this year? They already gave you a raise by covering your health insurance premiums.
