1864 Large Motto 2-cent piece. They made these in the 1860s and 70s. My dad inherited this coin from his grandfather, and 60 years after that we sold it for $77.

8 Reales Spanish silver coin, 1622. This was minted in Bolivia and placed on the Spanish ship Atocha, which sank in a Caribbean hurricane, with nearly all hands lost. Spain spent the next 60 years looking for their lost treasure, but the Atocha wasn’t found for another 350 years. Sold for $1175!

1909-S VDB penny, a rare early Lincoln wheat cents variation that included the designer’s initials. An avid coin collector at the time, I received it as a Bar Mitzvah gift in 1992. This year we sold it for $875.
