Post a game you remember playing that nobody else remembers.

That seems like way too many games, but it's probably true.

Honestly bro, I'm pretty sure if you just agree to go away and never come back, the rest of the world might be way more willing to let it slide. It's at least worth giving it a shot.

It cannot be overstated the degree to which Fire Emblem Awakening changed the course of Nintendo history.

It's bad out there right now, so take a break and look at this picture of Barbie, our sweet half-feral little goblin.

I distinctly remember seeing these watermelons in Toy Story 2 for N64 and having this realization that a 3D model in a game could lie. It was fun to grow up with N64 and pick apart the tricks. Because what 8 year old isn't pondering flat fruit. To this day I get nostalgic for these kind of textures.

As the first person (probably) to finish Star Fox 64 in 2026, here is the standing high score. Let me know if you beat it.

I don't think I can make this any clearer

I'll give the Analogue 3D credit for ALMOST being able to run Hybrid Heaven in high-resolution mode at a reasonable frame rate.

Anyway happy new year, let's avoid letting any power hungry evil organizations take over the US Government... Starting now.

PEGI has Switch 2 ratings for every Switch 1 game that got a free Switch 2 upgrade. Splatoon 3 got one earlier this year. They forgot to set a date beyond the year so it defaulted to the last day of the year. This is normal. Please go about your business.

That Retro Studios interview makes the fact that Metroid Prime 4 is as overall good as it is pretty remarkable. Sounds like they were handed a dumpster fire and told they had to keep the dumpster and just put out the fire. Somehow they came out with average review score of like 8/10. Amazing.

Starting a hard mode run of Prime 4. Missed this Metroid Prime Federation Force reference in my first playthrough. Talvania is one of the three planets you visit in Federation Force left abandoned by a highly industrialized civilization.

In war, there is often no winner.

I've seen some folks presenting turning off texture filtering on the Analogue 3D as a good way to improve image quality. Here's the thing, if the game was N64 exclusive or N64 first, it was built with that feature in mind. Turning it off generally breaks the art like this specular hit in Army Men.

Also, because I am who I am, there's a point at the beginning of every project where I want to include 3D animation. In this case I dropped it pretty quick but I did throw together a model of the ship during my brainstorming. Consider this your first Xcavator fan art @frankcifaldi.bsky.social

Had I realized at the time that THIS would be the thumbnail of mine that would make it into GDC talks I would have put way more effort into it.

I like when the care instructions really set a scene for me.

Finished Metroid Prime 4 last night. Really loved it. Progression reminds me of Fusion. Review soon. I hope we get more Prime cuz I'm a sicko that prefers Tanabe's Metroid universe over Sakamoto's (both good). But if we don't this one does a nice job of largely cleaning up loose ends.

This poor truck always winds up crashed on an alien planet.

also I didn't realize until I got it that he has a fed trooper helmet under his foot thus nicely recreating his intro from Hunters

I would like to congratulate Toying With Time by Master Sword for somehow sneaking past a fourth Jesse Welles album and making it into my top 4 on Apple Music.

so uhhhhhhhhhh

They actually used the sound waves of Myles MacKenzie's voice to drive the HD Rumble in the joy-con for the entirety of every cutscene. Just all the time. Obviously, a huge loss to the preservation community that this function isn't on the cart and requires a patch.

We discussed whether or not we would cover the ModRetro 64 on NWR after we were offered early access to it. We decided not to due to moral issues. A hard decision since covering it would likely earn us plenty of views/money.

All that to say I'm somewhat relieved that it looks this ugly.
