Some new dolls in the making. Dolls who carry the grief of the land, the loss is species, the loss of birds, the loss of insects. The UK is tragically one of the most nature depleted countries in the world.

A doll to speak to the dead.

I made this doll thinking about a friend, not knowing that she was dying and that she died days of me finishing the doll.
I made a little bag with knitted nettle dyed wool and i write little conversations to my friend, rolling the paper and adding it to the bag

A favourite Cailleach doll - she's carrying rocks as she drops them creating the landscape. She's always in the company of her fairy cattle, red deer.

Soon the stones of her wee shrine in Glen Cailleach will be removed from their winter shieling and come back out into the glen.

Considering the inspiration of my ancient foremothers. The ones who adorned themselves with stone and bone - making neck pieces that hold their story, listening to their whispers which are knitted into my bones (new post over on Substack) judelally.substack.com/p/adorning-t...

Learning to smell day #44. It's been a weird journey learning to smell again. So far the world smells like synthetic chemicals of laundry soap and vapes. I had surgery for nasal polyps which has returned a sporadic sense of smell. Yesterday I sniffed moss, lots of moss, it was reassuringly mossy 💚

One of my fav paintings I did last year. I often start out aiming for an abstract landscape and before you know it the figures start to appear. Presences of Ancestral Mothers in their shapeshifting forms - quite often they hold the landscape

The days of being a hat maker, living in a converted school bus, in Asheville, NC. Sadly local roads and bridges got decimated by hurricane Helene, which also took out a lot of houses and businesses by the river.
