Sometimes I remember I'm supposed to be promoting this thing. I'm proud of it. If you're into incantatory grief poetry, given to the rushed wallowing of modernity, or find yourself searching for the fragile stillness between trauma and music, you might like it.

Still in a state of shock trying to process the tragic loss of one of the most gifted men in the entertainment industry & his wife when the Embarrassment-in-Chief disgraces common human decency with this repulsive, deranged statement.

We are at a very dangerous point right now, in which a narcissistic sociopath, insatiable for power, is losing public favor and facing an enormous scandal.

He is desperate and will do (or allow to be done) anything that might claw back control and popular sentiment.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

My friend Peter and I did a pod on how to buy a gift. Unlike other gift guides, this is not just a list of products, but suggestions on how to approach gifting (although, this clip is basically about a book we love). 🧵

FB messenger just blocked me from sending Epstein photographs in a message. I rotated one image and it went through. Screenshot the others. No problem

On here it's the geeky posts that get engagement. On threads, it's posts about my experiences in RVA. And about 20% of that engagement is hot takes from people with infuriatingly low reading comprehension.

GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

In a lot of ways, RVA was a shithole in the early 2000s. But it was also unformed, full of wild energy. Anything could be created here, and create we did.

It was a city of smoke and magic, hidden places populated by impoverished artists & drunks. Most of us both. And I miss it.

Perhaps the most telling feature of right wing ideology in the US is that they no longer pretend their foundational belief is in freedom.

I don't even remember the last time I heard a Republican politician use the word.

Nobody talks about how the real casualty of AI — whether it lives up to its ominous promise or not — is absurdism.

It has made coherence and creative sobriety the hallmarks of authentic humans. We don't want hallucination. Computers do that. It's not innovative. It's something to be transcended.
