I think today I set the new record for the longest time span between two consecutive papers at #KDD: 31 years between KDD-0 (an AAAI workshop in Seattle) and KDD-31 (thousands participants in Toronto). Both papers about rule learning, attendance was higher in 1994 (whatever that means...) 🤔

This concerns so many of us international scientists. The US leadership in science has always relied on bringing excellent scholars to excellent American universities. Fulbright has recognized this has to start at the lowest academic levels, with incoming students as multipliers. #StandForFulbright

Just declined, I think for the first time ever, a reviewing invitation to a major ML conference. IMHO the expected amount of interaction in OpenReview (replying as reviewer to author rebuttals and vice versa) is getting way out of hand, reviewing becomes negotiation. Feels surprisingly relaxing. 😎
