I was active on the birdie site years ago, but it wasn't really a platform I used consistently in recent years. I'm not sure what this we evolve into, but you can probably expect a mix of politics/history, some pop culture nerdiness, and parental musings.
@booker.senate.gov says he didn't use all the material they collected. Sounds like we need a sequel. :D But seriously, amazing job Senator.

Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

Of course this is performative. It's literally meant to be. We've got Dems speaking loudly & on record. And it's being covered and discussed because of the historic/performative nature. Do I want Dems to keep fighting with more action- yes, but I recognize all types of action are necessary.

Senator Cory Booker has started his 19th hour on the Senate floor during his filibuster.

"I don't understand how we can be a nation with so much wealth and abundance and we haven't figured out a way to design a system where, when you invest in the wellbeing of people, people thrive."

Bravo, Cory!

@duckworth.senate.gov Thank you for giving @booker.senate.gov a great question, detailed and in depth to support Illinois. Thank you Sen. Booker for everything you are doing.

Reminder that we will make Cory's job easier if we can make massive moves in today's vote. Get out there and prove that we care more than the MAGA zombies who only vote for their chosen leader.

I have a shitty meeting this morning, but if Cory Booker can still be speaking with eloquence after 12+ hours overnight, I can do this. I'm also not standing up for anything important, but still fighting a patriarchal narcissist- so there's that

Without spoilers, Peeta and Katnis are two sides of the Haymitch coin and I can't stop thinking about that. We've seen in other books just how much Katniss and Haymitch see each other, but now we know just how much Haymitch saw in Peeta. #sunriseonthereaping

Might be a good saying to keep in mind with our current administration 👀

Well I finished Sunrise On the Reaping. While I'm in tears over Haymitch and his story, I am GUTTED by Beattie. Ugh- that hurt to read. #sunriseonthereaping

Chapter 8 and I’ve decided when my kids are older this will be required reading in my house. Meanwhile, Suzanne, this book is hitting so close to home right now. #sunriseonthereaping

No Spoilers, I've made it through 4 chapters of Sunrise on the Reaping and Suzanne Collins is not messing around with this book. #sunriseontehreaping

I love Zoe Saldana- some I’m super glad she one, but every clip I’ve see from Emilia Perez looks horrible. Can anyone give me any good analysis because it’s lost me and I couldn’t get into the movie.

I’m a weird elder millennial who still likes the tradition of watching the morning and evening local news. This stupid hub reporting is reducing on air time of local, trusted reporters. Legacy media wonders why it’s loosing? This is 1 reason. I want to know my news team understands our region.

General call to lawyers- Do parents who have children with IEPs have any recourse to sue Musk and his merrymen for accessing the Department of Education? Perhaps violations of FERPA.

@jbpritzker.bsky.social any hope of passing this in Illinois?

Where are the checks? @ericsorensen.bsky.social you might not be my congressperson, but since I'm from the neighboring 17th district, I'm expecting you to raise your voice on this.

Not burying my head in the sand, but if anyone has any music albums that bring them joy and make the cobwebs a little darker, I'd love you to drop a suggestion in the comments. It's winter in the midwest, the Checks are failing to Balance and I just really needs some sunshine in the form of music

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
