I may have contacted the paper (Spokesman-Review) about inviting you for one of their Northwest Passages book events...

Maybe it won't be a surprise given the subject or your publishing history, but... Auntie's Bookstore in Spokane.

I saw it on the shelves at our local independent bookstore this weekend! Conveniently allowed me to mention to my wife that "gosh, someone could get me this book for Christmas and it would make me awfully happy."

Hope you feel better soon!

I'll ask for recommendations for my wife. She loves Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache mysteries and is looking for a new series with a strong ensemble and tight, focused prose. She likes stories that move along, shies away from flowery, appreciates complex characters.

I tell my research students (undergrads, most getting their first scientific research experience) that 95%+ of research is failure, *maybe* getting ambiguous results. When it works, when you discover something no one else has, the JOY you feel. Same idea. Human creation and ingenuity is the best.

I know the most Christ-like response to this should be, thank you for reconsidering your positions, maybe we can turn your heart the rest of the way or whatever. But lmao fuck man, we've been saying this for 40 years and he's acting like this a brand new line of thinking he just this now invented. 🤣

Oh my goodness, how have I missed these all this time?

Do you mind if I ask what you use to do the rendering? I assume you're working from a PDB file in some way to get the protein structure right. The quality and artistry are incredible!

Okay, these all sound incredible. Thank you so much! One of those times that I genuinely love what social media can do.

I love having a bunch of different types of books in the TBR for when I need something particular.

53 here, and yes.

Oh gosh, I would LOVE some! I'd prefer sff romance, but if you've got others that you think are good fits I would not say no.

I also love Megan Bannen's adult romances (Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, Undermining of Twyla and Frank, haven't read #3 yet). Maybe I read more romance than I thought!

This was lovely, Joanna. I don't know any more where I am on my own journey or where I'll end up, but simply remembering there are people out there like you make me hopeful for a better future. Thank *you*.

Loved loved loved how the science of gravitation wove into the narrative. And it’s so deliciously, gloriously steamy! I didn’t realize just how much I needed books like this in my life until now and now I need more.

The main characters are so wonderfully layered and the ongoing themes of science and art each seeking truth and the struggles to think of oneself as a meaningful contributor to each add such rich depth to the story that I just devoured this book.

Now, I love a good romance subplot, but I’ve never read much romance and I don’t usually go in for British period drama as my first choice. But when I saw this was about a female astronomer, I thought I’d give it a try. Oh. My. Goodness. I am so glad I did.

5) The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics, audiobook. @oliviawaite.com

When I saw Olivia Waite post her upcoming novella Nobody’s Baby, I went on Libby to see if the first novella was available. Alas it wasn't but her previous books (Feminine Pursuits series) were.

We did this when our oldest was first old enough to go to friends' houses on his own. There's one thing you always say to let any of us know it's really you and you need help, no questions asked.

The feels I got reading this.

All Hail Chaos! I very much need this, like, yesterday.
