Centrist dems: "Our tent is so big! Huge tent! In fact we're making it *even bigger*! Room for all the vile racists! Come on in!"

Also centrist dems: "Why won't anyone come into our tent?"
Personally, I think the writer should be summarily fired, too

But I don’t wanna wait until May!

Long Live Evil was one of the best things I read last year. I am so excited for this. The trope-bending portal fantasy I hadn’t realized I needed and now I’m hopelessly hooked.
Truly thrilled to unleash the cover of All Hail Chaos.

Publishing 12 May 2026, dive into the wicked, unmissable sequel to the No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling Long Live Evil. #booksky

1. Only the rich *currently* have access to the most expensive hospital chains
2. Dunno who runs it, but it's better than lunatic insurance companies whose literal job is to deny care to people
3. This is also the current system. I am rich and have great care and I can't ever fucking see anyone
For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Finish my current project. I've got another project that's been on the back burner for years that I want to outline while I let this one rest a couple weeks, but taking a break is likely to disrupt any momentum I've built up, so... carry on! #weeknightwriters
Q5: What are you planning to do after #FirstDraftFall? Finish your current project? Start a new one? Take a three-week nap? #WeeknightWriters

100K Word Pie! 🥧 #weeknightwriters
Q4: What will you do to celebrate completing #FirstDraftFall? (Other than signing up for our community at ko-fi.com/weeknightw... and coming to our wrap party, of course) #WeeknightWriters
December 12, 2025 at 1:30 AM
The community's just been terrific. Supportive in the right ways, active, helpful, encouraging. #weeknightwriters
Q3: What have you enjoyed most about #FirstDraftFall - either about the challenge itself or your specific project?
December 12, 2025 at 1:29 AM
First draft? No, definitely not by tomorrow (yikes!) but I'm committed to finishing by the end of the calendar year one way or the other. #weeknightwriters
Q1: #FirstDraftFall ends TOMORROW (not counting our members-only wrap party)

Do you think you'll wrap up your first draft before the challenge ends? #WeeknightWriters
December 12, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Still need to puzzle out the final con, but I'm not going to lose sleep over not getting the fine details yet. So much is going to change at the beginning with the next draft that I'm likely to just Belle-the-zero-draft-horse it and get to it in rewrites. #weeknightwriters
Q2: Is there anything specific you need help with to wrap up your #FirstDraftFall story? Let us know about it & we'll see how we can help! #WeeknightWriters

Julia here with the kitchen sink WIP of heists, cons, antifascist resistance, love, betrayal, magic lost and regained, floating cities, magical billionaire tech bros and their downfall. Haven't written a lot this week but I can still hit that 100K word mark by the end of the week! #weeknightwriters
Hello #WeeknightWriters! Come on in, introduce yourself and your WIP, and let us know how your writing week is going! (Or not going, that's valid too)

I read a pre-print study re: teaching prompting in a business comm class, with success only being achieved by prompting with exact rhetorical context and multiple rounds of specific feedback.

Students don't invest that level of care in their own writing, let alone something written for them.
there’s a lot of irony around how writing a genuinely good prompt for LLMs requires the exact kind of clarity and precision in communication that is taught by good (human) writing instructors - who have now almost all been laid off by college admins

So much this, except even more because I am beyond 30 or 40 years old.
unless the game is primarily about crafting… then no crafting. or make a an “i am 30 or 40 years old and i do not have time for this” mode please

The High King, Lloyd Alexander. Maybe the single most formative book in my life.
omg. Kat Abughazaleh just posted that if she's elected, she'll swear in on a copy of Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower.

If you were elected to public office (never mind whether you'd ever actually run), what book would you swear in on?

So here comes the encouragement:
* you are not alone
* this, too, shall pass
* keep writing because someone needs your story
* keep writing because you love the craft
* you have survived 100% of the times that felt impossible
* art is rebellion
* art feeds your soul
* winter is for lying fallow 8/
