I wonder if she will be a long term enough character to be happy again? I hope so for lots of reasons… not least wondering if the new actress will attempt the squeal! I find most of the female characters quite easy to tell apart. I do struggle with the young men sometimes though!

Lily can be very bitchy, and then she can be really lovely too. I wonder how much of the bitchiness is her trying for amusing? Because she can also be very funny! I’m never quite sure if I like her or not 😃

I don’t think I agree. I think the new actress has done a rather good job of slotting into the role. She isn’t squealing at the moment because she is in very depressing circumstances and is understandably feeling very low. I think she sounds similar enough otherwise tbh.

It is very real isn’t it! We all do it all the time! Ideally, they should have all sat down together and talked about George’s release before he got out! But I think the fact that they didn’t was also very much like real life. Infuriating when you’re on the outside looking in though!!

I think you’re both right! Chris should have talked to Emma, he knows George is her son for goodness’ sake, and Emma should have talked to Chris, she knows what he feels about George for goodness’ sake!!

I think he is still a manipulative liar, I think he has a lot of difficult work to do on himself, and a very hard time ahead. I’m not sure he has it in him to do it! I rather hope so, as it would be so interesting for us to follow as a storyline, but I’m not sure the SWs will let him!

This is so much the problem they have with him, especially as he has been doing it since childhood! And I heard an undertone of “I will do something so bad they have to send me back” in there too. So so difficult for his family now to change the pattern!

As long as he is sincere in his desire to get help, I think a way could be found. The problem is whether or not George is sincere, or still manipulating I think, as a MH professional and possibly Azra too, would be likely to spot it. And alongside his violence, that would be an issue?

This feeling that being back in jail is safer because of the clear limits and boundaries is quite common as I understand it. And I think that maybe George managed to carve some status out for himself inside too. He is, however, forgetting that he grassed on Markie!

I’m pretty certain I remember that too. I do know she’s been very clear that she has got past it, has no particular problem with George, but does not want any involvement with him beyond simply bumping into him. So while I’m sure she won’t be unkind, I can’t see her helping him.

I can’t decide. But then I never can with George! And I do agree it was not an explicit ultimatum. But it has left Ed in a position where he will find it very difficult to tell Emma about the violence. Which is worrying. But I definitely think it was a huge breakthrough too.

This is true of most things on the NHS at the moment, but particularly true of mental health provision. Everything is so understaffed and underfunded! It’s still great if you can get access though. We have brilliant people working there.

My guess is that she knows full well in her heart of hearts what happened, but can see that Ed is working on George and is clinging to a hope they can get through it all without having to accept truths and/or much worse happening. Plus, she is prioritising no return to jail!
