"Since September, at least six unhoused Chicagoans have been abducted by federal agents. That number is likely higher, but the social invisibility and isolation already faced by people experiencing homelessness make their disappearances harder to track" by @katieprout.bsky.social @mulchy.bsky.social
Make It Make Sense: ICE targets Chicago’s homeless community
Plus: state and local leaders crack down on anti-ICE protesters and advocates ask the chief judge to keep ICE out of county courthouses.

HL Mencken in 1918: "[Woman] may envy [man's] masculine liberty of movement and occupation, his impenetrable complacency... But she never envies him his puerile ego; she never envies him his shoddy and preposterous soul."

I highly recommend this great, thoughtful critique of Ezra Klein's book Abundance (and also a lot of his arguments in general).
“A much more promising path to abundance than the one this book offers is to embrace a twenty-first-century New Deal. That is the tried-and-true model for a ‘liberalism that builds’ in the United States. Yet Klein and Thompson strangely shy away from calling for a new (or Green) New Deal.”

First known American citizen to be deported.
NEW: A federal judge raised alarm Friday that the Trump administration appeared to have deported a 2-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with "no meaningful process" — even as her father was fighting to keep her in the country.

Since I have defended and supported the WaPo in the months since the election and the infamous pulled endorsement, I feel obliged to say: this is very, very bad. A dear friend at a Post vet says it's the worst thing to happen to the Post in its long history, and I can't argue.
