I’m still genuinely stunned by this. Talk about things a Democratic president could never do. He literally just rolled a backhoe up one day and tore down the entire East Wing of the WH. No plans, no authorization, just razed it. And is taking in unregulated cash to build … nobody really knows what.

People in power at companies have no social obligation (besides their spotty morality) to notice that work in a nation is more than getting needed tasks done. That’s the government’s job to know and protect and they’ve abdicated that responsibility.

can i say something a little controversial (or maybe everyone already knows this): Mac OS is kinda not that great? And everything is so overpriced? I just switched back to windows after using it for work and remembering it was a good little computer nerd starter OS as a kid and I still love it?

It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

people who think teaching can be done via video or ai or worksheet or packet or whatever have literally no idea what teaching is.
one reason I don’t think teachers can be replaced by AI videos & quizzes is so much of teaching is inherently social
sometimes you’ll say something to a student one-on-one & it’ll literally be the exact thing you told the class, the exact words, but it doesn’t click until you say it to them alone

My family and I have been rallying with teachers every Friday for the past two months at Madera Elementary.
Negotiations have stalled and teachers on the verge of a strike. It was so heartening to see the biggest turnout of families yet today!

Yes. But/and … i do think a shit-ton of medical doctors are invalidating and awful at their job and that (plus obv the capitalist takeover of medicine) has contributed to a deep mistrust of healthcare in particular.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I really can't stress how important it is for progressive and leftists to contend for school, library, water, etc etc boards. Hyper local involvement in our communities where we can actually influence lives.
Following the recent election, leadership will be changing in many districts where conservative values previously dominated school board meetings and community actions.
