Fantastic news: if we invest heavily in off-shore wind farms, it has the added benefit of protecting us from
aerial attack! 🛩️❌🌀
Burgum: "Today we're sending notifications to the 5 large offshore wind projects that are under construction that their leases will be suspended due to national security concerns ... the Dept of War has come back conclusively that these large offshore wind programs create radar interference"

But that does not refute the broader historical lesson: that organized minorities, acting deliberately and persistently, have often been drivers of moral progress. If anything, it shows why moral ambition must remain democratic, contested, and open to correction. /7

The goal of Twitter is to drive division. Participating in it will make you feel worse and make things worse, faster. You’re not going to change people’s minds by arguing with them. Or bots.
Dear Bluesky liberals. Come back to Twitter. Please. PLEASE.

The argument “People Kill, not Guns”, is a False Dilemma.

This implies that either people or guns are responsible for killing, “but not both”.

In reality, both people & guns are involved in killing.

⚠️ The availability and type of guns can affect how many people are killed and how easily.

I found this delightful account thanks to another one who is geographically and socially the complete opposite. For a second it felt like Old Twitter where you could explore and enjoy. (I’m from a hot pocket in South Africa; I’m surviving the drinkable air in England)

This is so well written and also illustrates the side effects of fracking effectively. I’ve never been to Texas, but I feel like I’ve seen it. Great job, Molly Taft 👏
a big new one from me: I profiled a group of neighbors in west texas who have become the face of the abandoned well problem in the heart of oil country for @motherjones.com - an unlikely group of former industry workers and ranchers who are fed up with how Big Oil won’t clean up its messes:
Meet the TikTok stars demanding oil companies clean up their mess
There are millions of abandoned oil wells across the United States. A group of unlikely activists in Texas is making sure no one forgets they need to be cleaned up.

I find it interesting that this is an issue in the pro peloton. I recall a race, years ago, where a strong time trial rider had a go at a crit - one of the more dodgy races I rode. Strong enough to stay at the front but drifting and braking unpredictably… (1/3)

I spent the past weekend in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed watching utility cyclists whizzing about or just ambling along. For large parts of the city, this also means less noise compared to other urban environments. Also, also I have a soft spot for the Dutch and their way of being. ❤️🇳🇱
