Maybe it's because I'm a parent, but avoidable harm to kids really gets to me. My kids can be difficult when they don't get an afternoon snack at the usual time. I'm sure various parents and teachers can say the same. Watching a kid starve to death? And the US govt did it on purpose?

Are people necessary to have a state? Sure. Is there an optimal number of people for a society to survive? Lol no, it's not like there is a normative population, isn't that completely relative and dependent on other conditions? Sheer numbers aren't determinant

I think the thing with the debate about ‘Pro-Natalism’ is that everyone kind of dances around saying explicitly is that revealed preferences show lots of people think having kids of sort of sucks for the parent but is clearly necessary for society.

I would be opposed to mass deportations however they were done, but I think the extreme violence ICE & DHS more broadly are using is totally unnecessary to the goal of radically increasing deportations. The goal is to scare the hell out of people and make Trump look "strong"

I am pretty leftwing and I am not going into some far right "libs of tiktok" style punch-left-a-thon but "thing bad" or "thing problematic" are the *laziest,* absolute worst approaches to culture

And yes I'm even counting the "everything is secretly Marxist" cultural approach from last century
