This. We need to tend to our grief. Even those of us that jump into action–especially those that jump into action–must take time to mourn. If not, we can turn on each other. Remembering Audre Lorde's words to discover & use our rage so we do not end up "turning our rage against each other".

Homan went on CNN to complain that ICE’s attempts to arrest Chicagoans has been hampered by the people’s knowledge of policy—largely because of the city’s “Know Your Rights” campaign. Fascists rely on your compliance. On your ignorance. They depend upon your fear.

Disappoint them.

I forget others didn’t grow up in Maricopa County. Joe Arpaio disproportionately targeted black and brown bodies and when the jails rain out of room, he created an outdoor prison camp for the over flow and had a particular section dedicated to undocumented immigrants. MMW, we are heading there again

What we are all experiencing is called "resilience targeting." It is a deliberate attack favored by many of todays shitlords, and is a fairly well known theory in disinfo and climate circles; it's just that everyone seems to be in denial that it's an attack. Today might be a good day to read up

People are gonna nitpick this, but it's good advice. Don't let your in-house lawyers cow you into throwing away programs that work. There's always a way to do the right thing.
If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.

Highly recommend this book. What an authoritarian right wing government looks like hand in hand with the nations wealthiest. If you can’t commit to a book right now, look into El Salvador in the 1970s-1980s, and the targeted murders of political and religious leaders, and activists. (1/2)

The truth of January 6th can't be erased. Watch the pardoned criminals brutally attacking police inside the Capitol and see what some call 'patriotism.' No spin, just facts.

I’m taking notes! If it takes 4, 8, 30 years to get through this period — I will never forget.
The speed with which companies are abandoning DEI is a clue about how shallow their commitment to it ever was.

I've been thinking a lot about uncertainty. Some studies show people experience more stress when there is an uncertain POSSIBILITY of pain, than when there is CERTAIN predictable pain.

This week there were false alarms about ICE agents & anxiety was high. Maybe this is obvious, but.. (1/)

“Come back with a warrant signed by a judge” should be the response any time anyone in any type of enforcement asks to come look in your house.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
