I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.

“This is the largest legal action concerning environmental pollution ever brought in the UK. In a context where government and regulators have failed to prevent degradation of our rivers the court has become last avenue for justice”

Nice work. I also like the idea of using tree bark as cladding - I wonder if this has been used successfully?

ltl architects built a #strawhouse with super dense Durra Panels. Literally almost all of it out of straw panels...
Look at their #biobased potfolio, it may blow your mind. ltlarchitects.com/biogenic-pro... /

In which I revisit Ove Arup ‘s 1963 Kingsgate Bridge in Durham, the most elegant and minimalist concrete structure I have ever seen. It is actually two delicate and balanced structures which were pivoted to meet in the middle.

Ove Arup’s Kingsgate Bridge in Durham shows how concrete can be simple and sufficient
Also how a modern structure can fit into a traditional environment.

Interesting, thanks for sharing Auke. We live in a super efficient passivhaus in UK, with 6.4kWp solar PV and 10kWh battery storage, but in winter we still import significantly from the grid

Yeah wind is about 65% + solar & hydro make up the rest of renewables.
jurajmikurcik.bsky.social
I think Storm Amy just peaking, all that wind means renewables are making nearly 80% of UK electricity demand today 💚

Delivering high quality social housing ticks so many boxes on our social justice check sheet
✅Housing crisis
✅Cost of living crisis
✅Health inequality
✅Resilient communities
Thanks to the determination of Green Party councillors, York City Council will deliver social housing to Passivhaus standards
Front of a terrace of newly built homes. Enclosed frontage opens onto narrow, low-traffic access road. Living room of newly built home. Deep window sills indicate the high level of insulation and no need for radiators. Rear ginnel serving newly built homes. This secure, yet shared space has room for food growing, seating and connects the terrace of homes together.

Personally I think it's always beneficial to improve fabric as much as possible/ practicle before adding tech, but appreciate it can be tricky with retrofits.

What a great and generous offer 💚

The construction transition was never so affordable.
We have 9x passive house straw modules, all 2,5m x 3m that take too much space.
Transport: You. Cost: A donation.
I will support you with details, like corners, closing of the window openings (fits a straw bale,...)
