Now they are finally calculating life cycle emissions in construction, but are still ignoring the consequences of these figures.

Public via ferrata and a whale-shaped soccer pitch with Eiffel Tower views!

There are so many little moments like this in Paris where you can tell the city is focused on a great resident experience. Also a huge upgrade from the highway it used to be (last pic).

A few load-bearing stone wall segments connected 2 stone layers connected via a timber cross brace. Insulated with hempcrete, timber overclad with a stone cap for better weathering. Stone double wall system in action, multi story building.

Whether building with wood is better or not depends entirely on whether there are idiots in the forest.

In 1999, Bill Clinton announced that “the last, best unprotected wild lands anywhere in our nation” would be shielded by a new rule that banned roads and drilling.

Today, these lands could soon see chainsaws and logging trucks amid a push by Trump to raze these ecosystems for timber.
Outcry as Trump plots the plunder of US forests: "You can almost hear the chainsaws"
Public comments suggest repealing the Clinton-era "roadless rule" is wildly unpopular.

Fun fact is that the straw bales under the plaster are still in good condition.
michaelburchert.bsky.social
We have a clay-plastered straw bale wall with insufficient splash zone and inadequate roof overhang on campus as an architectural test object for >15 years.
While this is quite interesting initially to learn what works and what doesn't, it is not particularly smart the rest of the time. Read books!
Darker spots on the footing indicate wet parts from rain splash. In Summer this is unproblematic but in winter freeze thaw cycles it's going to cause cracks and failing plaster.

Let's just note that those who have always declared the decisions of the EU Parliament to be stupid and paternalistic now want to ensure that sausage can no longer be called sausage. Is this the other policy for which they absolutely had to be elected?

There are now two Americas when it comes to housing:

In one, people work multiple jobs and still can't afford a home.

In the other, housing isn't a place to live but a portfolio to grow.

Nice work. I also like the idea of using tree bark as cladding - I wonder if this has been used successfully?

4000 km2 is *40 millions* of 100m2 (~1000 sqft) apartments.

Honestly I expected them to stop doing that by this point. They spend energy on building entire neighborhoods, then - on maintaining them, and then they just demolish them. All generates immense amounts of waste and destruction.
