31 years ago today, former #NYPD Officer Francis Livoti murdered #AnthonyBaez with a chokehold that had already been banned. Anthony’s mom, Iris Baez, has been fighting for justice & leading our movement ever since.

Today and everyday we send love to her and her family. #RestInPower #NeverForget

Oh what a year it has been.

In the face of escalating attacks by an emboldened & lawless Trump regime and the ever-corrupt NYPD, JC never stopped fighting to collectively advance safety and wellness for our communities.

Yesterday, @CCRB_NYC announced alarmingly high rates of NYPD misconduct: in 2025, they received nearly 5,500 complaints & substantiated over 960. These stats confirm what our communities have known for years: police misconduct is not isolated, it is systemic & it's gotten worse under @NYCMayor Adams

ICYMI: the DOI published a report that found what we’ve long suspected to be true: the NYPD broke sanctuary city laws, endangering New Yorkers and deepening mistrust. 🧵
nyclu.org NYCLU @nyclu.org · Dec 3
NEW: The Department of Investigation (DOI) has released a report that confirms at least one instance in which the NYPD violated NYC’s sanctuary laws.

The NYPD has begun taking some steps to address the shortcomings found by the DOI - but the department can’t be left to police itself.
NYPD Agrees to Stricter Practices on Immigration Enforcement Following Probe
The city Department of Investigation found the police department "does not fully comply with documentation and reporting requirements" regarding interactions with federal law enforcement.

This weekend makes it even more clear: whether or not the NYPD is violating sanctuary city laws (which they probably are), ICE & NYPD are inherently connected. They’re both part of the same repressive system designed to protect the state and elite, not our communities. #HandsOffNYC #ICEOutOfNY

People power stopped a massive ICE raid - despite the support of NYPD, who terrorized, pepper sprayed, & violently arrested protestors while trying to clear the way for ICE. What was that about NYPD not helping ICE??

Shoutout to the 100s of NYers that took to the streets this weekend ✊ #HandsOffNYC
