Yes shop small if you can! Also if anyone buys fabric as stores close PLEASE wash it. Fabric, especially cheaper ones, can be treated with things to make them sit nicely on the bolt but irritate skin very badly with repeat or prolonged contact. (From a former big box chain fabric store worker…)

Ooooh such a good reminder. This is also making me very appreciative of the people whose whole job is UX writing and writing for accessibility on a whole other level.

I say as I’m about to schedule a meeting about labeling a button better (I promise it matters!)

I am struggling to convey “idk - he’s just a lil guy” vibes as alt text. So far the solutions I’ve found on the internet does not seem to understand this problem. Unless “idk - he’s just a lil guy” is valid alt text???

My current favorite book around this is The Mushroom at the End of the World: on the Possibility of Life in Capitalist Ruins by Anna Tsing. It has mushroom biology! Global forestry history! Lessons for collaborative survival from fungal ecology!

I think it genuinely shifted something in my brain.

Not the same as a live model session but I practice in coffee shops, people stick around long enough for longer studies and lots of turn over for rapid sketching of different folks

Learned so much about local
micro climates from my local nursery when I started gardening. Apparently I live in one that’s only about five square blocks? (and Portland blocks so they’re on the shorter side!)
