kinda underrated how good "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio" is as a line. it's so poetic/relatable in a way that the oft-misquoted "knew him well" part misses. he knew this guy (though not deeply), and now he's just gone. captures loss specifically—even broadly—really well

anyway I bought my mom an RV buyers' guide for xmas and when i came back half an hour later she was already multiple chapters in. birds of a feather etc
thinking about how much i indirectly engaged with various media as a kid, without actually playing the game. knew like every pokémon, but didn't play a game til I got a ROM on my Android. bought a WOW strategy guide for stuff that was a bajillion levels above me. read it cover to cover

there is literally no engineering or science profession other than mechanical engineers which is even close to parity. tech workers literally donate to Democrats over Republicans by a factor of 17:1. and that 1 is almost entirely executives.
